About Cintamani Tonics
Beyond Organic 10:1 Hot Water Extract
༄ Calming, Anxiolytic, Shen Tonic, Qi Mover ༄
Chamomile has a rich history of use in both Western and Eastern Herbalism. In Classical Chinese Herbalism, Chamomile is traditionally used to stimulate and move the Qi, alleviating stagnation. It also supports lung health, proper digestion, and a calm heart. In Ayurvedic traditions, chamomile is believed to relieve bloating and painful menses as well as support healthy sleep and calm the nervous system. Greek and Egyptian Herbalists used Chamomile to treat dry skin conditions. However, most notably across all traditions, it's loved as a mild sedative, anxiolytic, and spasmolytic, while possessing internal and external anti-inflammatory properties. It's anxiolytic properties are most likely due to the flavonoid, Apigenin, which binds to benzodiazepine receptors in the brain and potentiates the activity at GABA A receptors, producing a calm sedation effect. Chamomile is traditionally seen as a "sleepy time" herb, however, it can be used as an anxiolytic throughout the day to calm the Shen and help one feel more at ease.
