One of the Greatest Discoveries in Modern American Herbalism

Shilajit is a traditional tonic of India, employed as a panacea by Ayurvedic and Tibetan doctors for over 2,600 years. Shilajit is known the world over by many names, including Mumijo in Russia, and Wu Ling Zhi in China. It is typically found oozing from rocks of high elevation mountain ranges, once vaulted out of ancient sea beds through compression and subduction. Shilajit has been found in many locations globally, even some parts of South America recently; however, the majority of Shilajit on the market is exported from the Himalayas.

Mineral Pitch has not been widely used in the Americas until only very recently, so most Shilajit enthusiasts had no idea that it could be found here. Our Wildcrafter actually stumbled upon this intriguing material in the wild during an afternoon hike. He could tell from the mysteriously familiar aroma that it had to be special in some way. So he took a sample of it home to research. Days later, after conducting countless web searches for queries like "oozes from rocks," he was able to positively identify the strange rocky extrusion as Shilajit. Now this was over 7 years ago, when Shilajit was just beginning to emerge on the superfood scene. There wasn't much information available about this enigmatic substance, and purification instructions were few and far between. So our enterprising Wildcrafter developed his own proprietary low temperature purification method. After many years of perfecting his process, a mutual friend introduced us and we felt an instant kinship with this kind soul dedicated to stewarding indigenous American mineral resin. We began working together in the spring of 2019 to streamline the purification process and acquire lab tests to verify the purity and fulvic acid content. Himalayan Shilajit is on average 1% humic acid and 20% fulvic acid. Our analyses reveal that Wild American Shilajit is 1% humic acid and 22% fulvic acid, and offers top-of-the-line cleanliness and purity.

"I was very impressed by the purity and efficacy of this American Shilajit, and in my opinion it far exceeds most all that I’ve tried. I highly recommend this mountain resin for its tonifying actions and pristine quality."

The Resin of Life

Shilajit in Ayurvedic Medicine

Shilajit is a rare phytocomplex mineral pitch that has been recognized as a powerful medicine for thousands of years, and in the Ayurvedic tradition it is believed to be a complete panacea (cure all).  This black plant pitch is considered a supreme "Rasayana," or rejuvenator (India's term for Tonic), and is recognized by science today as one of the 8 authentic and primary adaptogenic substances in existence.  Revered for it's nootropic qualities, Shilajit is also known as an Ayurvedic "Medyha Rasayana," meaning "rejuvenator of intellect."  Shilajit is about as rare as uranium, and is found at high elevations within very old mountain ranges.  It is a black tar-like substance that exudes from steep rocks at certain times of the year, and must be processed in order to access the profound medicinal constituents it offers.

What is this unique substance made of?

Many theories have been postulated, but most scientists agree that Shilajit and its raw mountain mineral pitch resins are distinct from mineral tar in that they are from wholly herbaceous origins.  Shilajit is primarily believed to be composed of prehistoric (thousands, potentially millions of years old) humified plant life.  Still, some researchers think Shilajit could possibly contain minerals from decomposed marine invertebrates. Others postulate that the resin is comprised primarily of plant latex from the cactus species, Euphorbia royleana, while others believe liverworts and mosses may be the origin.

This prehistoric plant life has been fully broken down and humified within layers of rock to render a uniquely bioavailable ionic mineral and Fulvic/Humic acid combination.  Fulvic and Humic acids are powerful antioxidants and a crucial part of soil health, acting as large-chain transporter molecules delivering micronutrients directly into the cell of plants.  When Fulvic Acid combines with the broad spectrum ionic minerals and amino acids found in Shilajit, a proportionate perfection of beneficial compounds synergistically absorb into and nourish the human body in a profound and unrivaled way!  There is literally no other substance like it in existence, and due to the lengthy process of its creation and limited supply, we must use it responsibly to ensure it is available for future generations.

What kind of health benefits is Shilajit known for?

While we make no health claims about our products, Shilajit has been safely used for thousands of years for a variety of benefits.  It is considered a prime adaptogen with harmonizing and regulating properties, providing the body with a comprehensive profile of bioavailable ionic minerals (85 or more), plus amino acids, and a host of antioxidants including fulvic and humic acids. Below, we've compiled an extensive list of Shilajit's properties with links to peer reviewed articles providing scientific evidence to support traditional wisdom.
