Frankincense, or resin from the Olibanum tree, has been considered a highly valuable and immensely precious herbal medicine since the beginning of written history. While often used as an incense, this pristine wild Omani Royal Green Hojari Frankincense Resin is considered “edible/medical grade,” and used specifically for internal consumption. It is either chewed like a gum, brewed, or cold-infused as a tea. Appropriately regimented internal use can offer cleansing, purifying and tonifying effects. In Oman, it’s widely used as a refreshing cold-brewed tea to assist with daily detoxification, and is considered to be their primary herbal remedy for all cancer concerns. Recent scientific explorations have revealed Frankincense as one of the most potent herbal anti-inflammatories available. The water-soluble parts of this unique tree resin are fully edible and medicinal. When brewed as a tea with (hot or cold), or chewed like gum, the water-soluble part of the resin slowly dissolves releasing a refreshing citrusy pine flavor. As it is chewed, the texture changes, and an insoluble gum will be left over (the original chewing gum ~ do not swallow the gum part). The leftover insoluble tree gum is biodegradable and can be discarded like any compostable food waste.
