*One of the rarest honeys in the world*

Frankincense Flower Honey contains naturally-occurring Boswellic acids from the Frankincense tree. Consuming this special honey is an extra delicious way to gain access to the antioxidant rich compounds Frankincense offers. The complex flavor is sweet, mild, floral, and in some ways comparable to other wild flower honeys from different regions of the world. However, authentic raw Frankincense Flower Honey has a truly unique flavor that is difficult to fully describe. It is savory, rich and buttery, with citrus hints.

This super rare wildflower honey is NOT to be confused with Frankincense-infused honey, which has a strong piney flavor and is made by blending Frankincense resin or essential oil into common wildflower honey.

About Frankincense Bees

Apis florea, a wild honey bee native to the waddis (arroyos) of Oman, produces an exceptionally precious and rare Frankincense Flower Honey. Each spring, the red dwarf honey bee forages on the beautiful blooms of the Frankincense tree, gathering Frankincense nectar, pollen, and resin. The red dwarf bees pollinate the trees and enjoy building their open colony combs on the branches, benefiting from the protective qualities of the Frankincense; and incorporating Boswellic acids into their propolis, wax, and honey.

Authentic Frankincense Flower Honey is incredibly rare and precious ~ by comparison, it is said to be at least 1,000 times rarer than Manuka Honey. This is due in part to the rarity of the Frankincense trees and the Apis florea bees, but is also due to the very short season in which Frankincense blooms. Each spring, the Frankincense trees bloom for less than a month. The Apis florea bee will only gather nectar from the freshest Frankincense flowers before the flowers turn from yellow to red. This is a very short window that lasts less than a week for most trees.

An Omani Tradition

The Omani family wildcrafters who we work with have been gathering Frankincense Honey from the waddis of Oman for generations. The honey is sustainably harvested with respect for the bees, their brood, and the integral role they play in the life-cycle of the Frankincense forests. Only a very small amount of Frankincense Flower Honey exists, and very little of it is exported from Oman.

Frankincense Herbal Actions and Uses

Frankincense, or resin from the Olibanum tree (Boswellia species), has been considered a valuable and precious herbal medicine since the beginning of written history. While it is often used as an incense, in Oman where it is grown, It is either chewed like a gum, brewed, or cold-infused as a tea. Appropriately regimented internal use can offer cleansing, purifying and tonifying effects. In Oman, it’s widely used as a refreshing cold-brewed tea to assist with daily detoxification. And recent scientific explorations have revealed Frankincense as one of the most potent herbal anti-inflammatories available.
